Most of our staff maintains membership in the American Board of Opticianry (ABO), whose membership indicates the highest level of expertise.
Linda Guzzetta, founding member of the Sonoma Eyeworks® team. Her qualifications include: past owner of a high-end optical shop in San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood, and an instructor of Optical Lab Techniques at Cañada College in Redwood City. She was a Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry. On her leisure days off, she enjoys painting, knitting, gardening, and traveling with her husband, François, and relaxing with her two Tonganese cats, Mia and Suki.
Cindy Harmon joined her husband, Michael, as Office Manager, in November of 2004. Cindy started her optical career in 1990 with Varilux progressive lenses in Sacramento. When she moved to Santa Rosa in 1991, she was recruited by VSP to help develop the Sales and Marketing department at VSP’s Optical Laboratory and Altair Eyewear. Cindy enjoys planning the advertising and marketing programs for their business as well as exercising, visiting family and is Grandmacin to her four grandchildren, Jenna, Ethan, Brendan and Owen.
Peter Kaspar joined the Sonoma Eyeworks® team in 2005 and is now celebrates over ten years with our practice! Certified by the American Board of Opticianry. Peter enjoys helping customers find the perfect pair of eyeglasses and training patients on how to wear contact lenses. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Tracy, son, Joshua and daughter, Emma. Peter is an avid hockey player who not only watches the game but plays competitively at Snoopy’s Ice Arena and recently became involved in the Spartan races.
Lori Borchers has been one of our team for over nine years. Starting out her career in the Sacramento area at an Optometry office, she then became a road warrior selling frames. After relocating to Sonoma County, she took a break to start her family. Lori enjoys being part of the Sonoma Eyeworks® family and obtained her ABO certification from the American Board of Opticianry in July, 2010. Wayne Wilmsen, a founding member of our team, is our Laboratory manager. He has more than 25 years in the business and fabricates the fashion forward eyewear we are known for in Sonoma County. In "Wayne’s World," he works with our vendors throughout the United States and abroad on a daily basis, placing orders for optical frames and lenses. Outside of work, Wayne enjoys spending time with his family, wife Denelle and son, Troy. He is a competitive pool player and an avid sports fan who is loyal to his beloved Lakers, Dodgers, and Raiders.
Angela Agundez joined Sonoma Eyeworks® in January 2014. Starting her career in Modesto, CA. at a family owned laboratory, she developed her opticianry skills. Angela soon obtained certification from the American Board of Opticianry and is in excellent standing. Her continual quest for learning, plus her caring and friendly demeanor helps her provide the best optical experience for her customers and patients.
Elizabeth Theron is the latest star to join the team at Sonoma Eyeworks. She hails from Namibia and speaks 4 languages (you'll have to double check with her). She began her passion for eye care while working at a practice in the south bay. In our practice, she prepares the patients and performs ancillary testing for the doctor. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, walking the dog and spending time with her two sons. Now a resident of Cloverdale, Elizabeth feels right at home 10,000 miles away from her fatherland.
Joe O'Connell has worked in the optical industry since 1999 and is an A.B.O. Certified optician. He's worked in small optometry offices, large ophthalmic practices and busy retail optical shops. While living in Berkeley, he enjoyed volunteering with SEVA, a non-profit organization that partners worldwide to create programs that preserve and restore sight. He is a veteran of the Air Force, serving as a medic and nationally registered E.M.T. He received his B.A. from The Evergreen State College and is a self-proclaimed music geek, playing harmonica in several bands over the years. Joe and his wife have a five year old son and recently welcomed a baby girl to the family!
Susan Speier, our front desk manager brings a diverse experience in retail and business to Sonoma Eyeworks. A self-stated go-getter, Susan once moved to France, taught herself the language, and ran an English teaching business there.
She is a creative fantasy writer who loves to spend rainy days getting her characters into and out of trouble. Bee keeping is also one of her great loves. "Caring for the bees makes me feel like I'm helping the planet. It's a labor of love and appeals to my meticulous nature"
Among her many skills, Susan is a licensed esthetician and a certified massage therapist. She has participated in previous political campaigns and is always looking to make the world a better place.
